haha i will just say that at Harborlight, at 2 kids are calling it the actual name... not that its the right or wrong way to do it, but I had a little boy point to "it" and tell me what it was called, and go on to give me an anatomy lesson on how boys and girls are different lol yes he is two!
I dont think I can handle tink saying vagina or penis. sorry...nicknames! please haha
actually she can....
andre and i decided to go for the actual names. however, we are telling her that we call it her privates...this is all too weird :)
we basically do the same thing...although i don't think we've actually gotten to the point of actually telling them the real names...we have just told grady (hadley is completely unconcerned with such details) that they are private. of course then you have to discern what more to tell them and when...as far as other "warnings"...like, these are private and nobody else can look or touch, blah blah blah. it is all very weird, huh? :)
Whatever you decide to call the privates i feel it's important to talk about it the same way you talk about any other body part. If a child learns she gets a reation from others by talking about it she'll use it like a 'dirty' word. Saying in an even tone of voice something like 'all girls have hands, privates and toes. God made all girls like that. It's not manners to talk about privates in front of other people that's why it's called privates.'
