we decided to let the girls pick a cake to make. since andre was home (this was under difficult projects) we went with it. the girls were, as always, happy to lick stuff.

it is a soccer ball cake for all you who are wondering. very, very, very far from the best cake i've ever made! it was also a boxed cake...BUT with homemade icing. for the record the directions ion the book said pentagons instead of octagons like the picture showed...

Your cakes look like so much fun! What recipe do you use for icing? I have trouble finding one that makes enough and tastes good. Hope all is going well with the baby.
i use a lot of different ones. let me now if there is a specific flavor you are looking for and i'll send you some recipes.
I like vanilla but I'd be curious what you use. I've used almond in the past and that is nice too. I prefer butter based ones to shortening based ones. Does that help? or is that to much information? I'd be interested in seeing whatever recipes you think work well.
